British Columbia invited 358 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence on November 10.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) sent out invitations through the Skills Immigration streams (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC).

Candidates were invited under the International Graduate, Skilled Worker, and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled subcategories.

The minimum required score for successful immigration candidates was as follows:

  • Skills Immigration: Skilled Worker: Ninety-three (93) points
  • Skills Immigration: International Graduate: Ninety-four (94) points
  • Skills Immigration Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled: Seventy-five (75) points
  • Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker: Ninety-two (92) points
  • Express Entry BC: International Graduate: Ninety-three (93) points

Because of the impact of COVID-19 on B.C. businesses, certain occupations were removed from this draw. The BC PNP webpage has a list of excluded occupations.

British Columbia conducts draws through its various PNP categories and streams on a weekly basis.

To apply for the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories candidates must first create a valid profile via the BC PNP’s online portal and register under its Skill Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Applicants are properly evaluated and granted a score based on factors such as work experience, level of education,  proficiency in English, and employment location.

If an applicant is approved, they can then use their provincial nomination to apply for Canadian permanent residence with IRCC under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Immigration candidates who receive a nomination from British Columbia province will be given an extra 600 points toward their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Such persons are practically assured an Invitation To Apply (ITA) in a future federal Express Entry draw.

Every week, British Columbia issues invitations under its Tech Pilot.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot is a fast-track immigration pathway for international students and in-demand IT workers. It is managed through B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams.

In order to be considered for immigration to British Columbia through this program, candidates need to have a valid job offer in one of twenty-nine (29) eligible occupations.

Eligible occupations for the BC PNP Tech Pilot include computer and information system managers, web designers and developers, civil engineers, translators, and audio/ video recording technicians, among many others.

In contrast to other BC PNP programs that requires an offer of permanent employment, Tech Pilot job offers should have a minimum duration of one year.

However, employment offers that are more than one year in duration will still be qualified under the pilot. It is also required that the employment offers be full-time and from an eligible employer in the province.

Candidates who are invited to apply for a provincial nomination have thirty (30) days to lodge a complete application.
